Natural Resource Management

Many Kenyans live in rural areas and depend on the land and other natural resources for their livelihoods.  The growth of human population combined with unsustainable natural resource use practices has led to rapid degradation of the environment. This has induced climate change further threatening the integrity of the environment. Globally and locally, human activities continue to destroy the environment with great economic, food security and health and safety implications.  Termed the major overriding environmental issue of our time by the UN Secretary General, climate change is a growing crisis; one compounded by high poverty levels, rapid population growth, poor health and low levels of education.

WEMIHS goal as per her strategic plan is to enhance the sustainability of the environment and natural resources through integrated community based natural resources management approaches..
