Wairimu Mungai is the founder and executive director of WEM Integrated Health Services (WEMIHS) in Nairobi Kenya, community development visionary and passionate advocate for fostering connections for learning across the continent of Africa and beyond. Wairimu has a rich history of educational and professional experience in international development. She was educated at State University of New York in Buffalo and Queens University in Kingston, Ontario where she earned her Bsc. in nutrition and community development and M. education respectively. She also has years of professional experience working with International NGOs in policy making, programme development and capacity building. In 1998 Wairimu founded WEMIHS in order to respond to the growing urgency around HIV and AIDS in Kenya. For 15 years WEMIHS has been developing and implementing programming that are integrated, innovative and firmly rooted in the community it serves. Wairimu describes WEMHIS as an organization “commitment to learning and high impact community interventions”.
